Château Phélan Ségur at One Thirty-One
So it had been a year in the making and finally the day had come, for C&B to host, what can only described as Hong Kong’s “dinner of the year”; Thursday 3rd November saw the long awaited Ch. Phélan-Ségur dinner. We had the honour and pleasure of not only that...
Read More Schloss Schönborn Dinner – Hong Kong
(English Translation Below)
Rheingau Riesling QbA, Schloss Schönborn 2009
Read More An Evening of Lafon Rochet
Karel Röell
What’s with the yellow’ was the first thing coming to my mind thinking of Lafon Rochet’s bright yellow and red labels when I met the Château’s proprietor Basile Tesseron, who answered with the usual emphatic French shrug and a cheeky smile: ‘Just bad taste...!’ Given the intellectual flexibility of...
Read More Dinner with New Zealand Producer Michiel Eradus
Some wine evenings seem to fit the wines like a glove. To me the wines of Marlborough family producer Eradus are about relentless quality but practiced in an effortless, unpretentious way, with charm and a lightness of touch. Certainly the dozen Corney & Barrow customers and staff who sat down...
Read More Director’s Top Tipple – Seafood Linguine Recipe
I am not sure whether to be flattered or not that I was the first of the Directors to be asked to write a piece for the blog about what I cook and eat at the weekend. Being the close to spherical shape that I am, I should hardly be...
Read More Dinner with Roberto Conterno in Piedmont
Last Thursday morning whilst still a little tired from the wonderful Clos de Tart dinner, Adam (MD), Alison (Buyer) and myself met up at Gatwick for the flight to Torino. To say I was a little excited about this trip would be an understatement of the year as I am...
Read More A Dinner with Edouard Moueix
Dinner on Wednesday 20th April was one of those evenings for the then and now and one of those moments you look back upon with pleasure and fondness. We hosted a dinner alongside the ever-charismatic Edouard Moueix, at Home House on Portman Square, for our private customers. With fierce loyalty...
Read More Peter Sisseck in town for the 2010 Ribera’s and something very new!
In the short 3 day week before the Royal Wedding, we were delighted to have Peter Sisseck (of Dominio de Pingus) in town to show us the 2010's of his three Ribera del Duero wines and one other wine I will come onto later. Peter somehow always manages to seem...
Read More Benjamin Romeo – Rioja with a difference
The English voice of our sat-nav sounded very out of place as we wound our way through the steep, narrow streets of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, the tiny hilltop village which Benjamin Romeo - trailblazing Riojan winemaker - calls home.
We were racing against the setting early spring sun, so...
