Corney & Barrow In The Press

“If you find sauvignon a bit sharp, try it blended with semillon for a change.  The most impressive one I’ve tasted recently, thanks to a steer from Matthew Jukes’s 100 Best Australian Wines, is Gathering Sauvignon Semillon The Lane 2009, a beautifully crafted blend from an award-winning producer in the Adelaide Hills. Jukes says it leaves you feeling “astonishingly violated”. I didn’t find it that disturbing, but it is extremely seductive, particularly, I’d imagine, with a few seared scallops. You may want to bear that in mind…”
Fiona Beckett, The Guardian (23/09/11)

“Château Léoube Rosé de Léoube has the lightest salmon pink colour, almost rose gold. On the nose the toffee aromas have a brioche sweetness to them. The tart wild strawberry fruit floods in on the palate and the wine has plenty of minerality to keeps things interesting. To the edges of the mid palate light clementine notes come through and the finish is understated and refined.”
Neil Cammies, Western Mail (01/10/11)

“This lovely red displays aromas of violet and crushed raspberry, following through to a medium-bodied palate, which lingers with a pleasant aftertaste of licorice and mint. Drink now. 9,000 cases imported.” Pick of the Day.”
Nathan Wesley,  Wine Spectator (19/09/11)

“Made with Organically grown grapes from the estate’s oldest vineyard.  A top wine made by one of Waipara’s most quality-conscious wineries.   Seductively accessible but will age well.  19/20”
Decanter Magazine, July Issue 2011

“A dense, silken-textured and powerful Pinot made from organically grown grapes in an intensively planted vineyard on limestone-based soils.  Big, potentially complex wine. 18.5/20.”
Decanter Magazine, July Issue 2011

Cabernet Sauvignon Cakebread Cellars 2008
“Aromas of smoldering campfire embers lead to a complex mix of dried berry, mineral and black olive, with a touch of dark berry jam. Nicely layered, clean and focused, firming the finish. 90/100.”
Mary-Anne Worobiec, Wine Spectator  (15/08/11)
